I have a paranormal story for you this week.
For some reason, I have a fascination with forests; I feel drawn to them, which only makes sense that I would cover the Hoia Baciu Forest.
The Hoia Baciu Forest is located west of Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, Romania, and is one of the most haunted forests in the world. I hope to visit this location and do an investigation sometime at what is known as the "Bermuda Triangle of Romania."

A little bit of background about this location, it was named after a shepherd who went missing with his 200 sleep in 1968. They disappeared without a trace, a familiar tale linked to the forest. Legend has it that no all who enter the forest make it out, at least not alive. Many visitors appear to have committed suicide in these woods or are gone without a trace. Of course, these could just be stories, and those who went missing could have been attacked by other people. Regardless, there is just something about these woods.
The story of a 5-year-old girl is the most well-known tale about people disappearing in these woods. The girl was said to have wandered into the forest from the nearby city. Countless search parties were sent out to find her, but it seemed as though the forest didn't want her to be found. Five years later, she would walk out of the forest wearing the same clothes and having no memory of that time.
It could be the appearance of the forest itself that gives visitors an eerie feeling. The trees there are twisted and bent; they look like they were once dancing and become stuck, all in a count wise manner. There is no scientific explanation for the pattern with the trees nor to a strange clearing in the forest-in a nearly perfect circle. The field is barren, nothing but grass refuses to grow there. The soil has been tested in this area, and nothing can explain it's emptiness.

Oh, and the gateway to another dimension can give this location a spooky feel. A tree, somewhere on the path to the clearing, grows in an arch. It is believed to be a portal to the unknown.
There have been several archaeological discoveries in the Hoia Baciu Forest, tombs, and remnants of houses that were discovered in 1960/1994 from the oldest Neolithic settlement in Romania. The artifacts date back to 6500 BC.
With that being said, there are several shadow figures found in the Hoia Baciu. It is believed that the souls of the villagers who once lived there are trapped. This could explain the screams and laughter heard in the forest at night.
The last bit of information that I found about this location was that it is a hub for UFO sightings. Several photographs have been taken showing strange lights and objects in the sky near Hoai Baciu. These strange anomalies tend to only show up in pictures, invisible to the naked eye. Could this explain the clearing in the forest? Could it have been the landing site for a UFO? I suppose that could be possible; the vessel changed/poisoned the ground there, causing it to remain barren. Perhaps detecting the changes in the soil is beyond our scientific abilities.
Unfortunately, that was all the information that I found to find on Hoia Baciu, but there are several documentaries on this place. I would check out the Ghost Adventures episode as well as Destination Truth. If anything, they will give you some footage on how spooky this forest is.
Thanks for reading.
