Those Three Weeks it Rained Goo

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

Welcome back!

Things are pretty crazy with the COVID-19, and it seems pandemics are trending. I noticed a bunch of shows popped up on Netflix regarding this topic shortly after everything happened. With that, I decided to do today's story on a strange event along those lines.

Let's go.

This story takes place in the 90s in the small town of Oakville, Washington. This town had a population of 665 when the event happened on August 7, 1994. I'm sorry, but what if they had 666 people living there? That would be great, but I don't think the community would like how that looked.

Okay, the weather in Oakville is pretty sad. It rains 99% of the time and cloudy 100% of the time.

One day instead of ordinary rain, it was raining some kind of gelatinous goo. I am talking jello, falling from the sky- clear jello.

Obviously, the locals were concerned, but they didn't do anything until it was too late. The rain continued like this for three weeks. The locals began to get sick after a while. They described it like the worst flu ever, and it would last from a few weeks to months. They also experienced vertigo, nausea, and shortness of breath.

Of course, as I am writing this, it's raining, and my paranoia is setting in.

Locals also reported that their dogs and cats were dying. I find it odd that no other animals died from the goo. If it is raining continuously, other animals are going to be exposed to it. Does Oakville only have cats and dogs?

Samples of the goo were sent to the Washington Department of Health and microbiologist, Mike McDowell ran tests on the substance. The goo was made up of two different organisms, Pseudomonas Fluorescens and Enterobacter Cloacae. Obviously, those two things together can make people extremely sick. I honestly have no idea what those mean. But, according to my research, I gathered that somewhere is the goo-substance; they found human white blood cells and bacteria from the human digestive system. That's gross. Oh yeah, the white blood cells did not have nuclei, and I remember from Biology class they are supposed to have those. Still don't understand what any of that means.

The conclusion of what happened in Oakville, Washington? No one knows, but there are a few theories.

Mike Osweiler from Washington State Department of Ecology, suggested the matter came from an airplane toilet. I don't buy it. Don't airplane toilets have blue dye in them? The goo is clear, and there was no blue residue reported. Also, how do they explain the white blood cells?

Microbiologist, Tim Davis, like all the other scientists, couldn't identify the substance, but he did say that the material was alive.

Well, that's terrifying.

Some locals think the U.S military was involved, and the town was used as a testing ground. That's possible. There's no doubt that that government does shady shit, why not test a super-flu on a small town in America. I mean, this story didn't hit the papers till like three years after the event. That seems shady. I would expect a story like that to be big-unless someone wanted it to stay quiet. Did I mention that all documents and the goo itself have vanished? That's super shady. There is a picture that people associate with this story, but it turns out, that goo is actually like frog eggs.

Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed this quick little story and here's a picture of Mister Hades.
